There are so many ways that membership in Houston Dance Consortium can benefit you and your community. Our non-profit organization is here to serve you with a community of fellow dance professionals and pre-professionals that will become your trusted advisors, friends, fellow performers, associates, resources, and contributors to your dance career. In the world of dance, sometimes the passion is there, but we just don’t know how to pursue it…we aim to bring opportunity to you to pursue your dance goals. We are recruiting membership from professors, dancers, studio owners, teachers, choreographers, and other non-profit dance professionals. We strive to build a network of community involvement within schools, other non-profit community organizations, and local subsidized branches of childcare services to offer dance education to lower income youth. We aim to fund opportunities for future dancers in the form of scholarships as well.
We rely on grants, donations, and membership fees to fund our efforts towards these causes. Membership fees and commitments are necessary for the consortium to be able to provide enough value to impact your dance world.
Member Benefits:
*Access to monthly members only dance meets – Held at a local studio, our members will come together to synergize through a warm-up and dance session followed by discussion of a pre-selected topic presented either by a guest or a fellow member, and open forum to close the event. These are basically free master classes and networking events!
*Network of fellow dancers / teachers – Membership will open a network of people and organizations that you can get to know better through your participation in member events and communications. Having a common bond and commitment is a great stepping stone to collaboration and partnerships.
*First pick for teaching opportunities – We will look to the people that we have helped train and that we know are the right fit for any community outreach teaching jobs that the consortium obtains. We will also be able to pick teachers for Master Classes at member studios.
*First pick for performances or choreography opportunities – The network of dancers that are part of Houston Dance Consortium will be the best resource for choreographers, producers, and directors of local performances and projects. We aim to connect you to these opportunities.
*Discounted event tickets and master classes – Any events and Master Classes hosted by HDC will offer discounted entry fees for its members. We aim to have at least one per quarter.
*Discounted studio rental rate – HDC will work with local studios to negotiate discounted rates for it’s members to rent studio space. HDC calls MoveNation Dance Academy home, but seeks partnership with many studios in Houston and Surrounding areas.
